Eight companies will be providing national coverage under the new Medicare prescription coverage, which starts January 1, 2006. The eight companies are:
- Aetna Life Insurance Company
- Connecticut General Life Insurance Company
- Memberhealth
- Pacificare Life and Health Insurance Company
- Silverscript Insurance Company
- Unicare
- United Health Care Insurance Company
- Wellcare Health Plans
In addition to the national plans these companies offer, Medicare recipients will also be able to choose from plans available regionally. Detailed information about national and regional plans will be available October 13. Until then, limited information on plan providers is online at http://www.cms.hhs.gov/map/map.asp.
